hopefully this is our second to last trip to the hospital! that last one being when the girls are born and that being in three months! anyhow, here is what happened. i woke up at 4:30 a.m. on tuesday to go to the bathroom and discovered i was spotting again! i was so upset because i had done way too much the day before. i was totally mad at myself and felt so guilty for doing too much. i woke up matt, and he was not happy because he knew i did too much the day before (and it being 4:30 a.m. did not help so much). long story short, they discovered they thought the blood was coming from my urethra (where you pee), rather than my vagina. they ran an ultrasound to rule out kidney stones and other stuff of that nature along with blood and urine tests. i had to stay all night because they had to wait until the next day just to get preliminary test results back. because they had suspected it was a urinary tract infection, which can lead to preterm labor, they had me on a contraction monitor. they also had the babies on heart rate monitors to make sure they were doing well. which, by the way, their heart rates were excellent! yay! we FINALLY got word the next day that it was, in fact, a urinary tract infection! i have never been so happy to have one before! it was the least serious and easily treatable problem i could have! the strange thing was, i only started to notice a symptom once i had been admitted to the hospital. the only symptom was having to go to the bathroom more frequently. i was not sure at the time whether it was me just bored and tied down with the monitors on my stomach or if it was the monitors themselves. turns out it was neither! it was extra weird because the blood i discovered was not in my urine and it did not appear to be coming from there either! it is not ruled out (nor is it proven) that the spotting i had before may have been coming from my urethra as well. so, i got to come home on wednesday afternoon! i just have to take meds every 6 hours, which is a total pain! i am not to eat two hours before taking and a half hour after taking. needless to say, that is quite difficult for a pregnant woman to go two and a half hours without eating!!!! so, lets hope that this is the last time for spotting or ANY problems with the girls! we are so over it!
i am SUPER excited for baby shower #2 this sunday at my mom's house! jessica and my mom are going to be the hostesses! it should be a lot of fun! this shower is with the fischers, my friends, co-workers and neighbors i grew up with!
